Regardless of how you mix and match, you must have this base to support the other units properly. The thick, rigid shelf rests on silicone pads to isolate it from unwanted resonances. An indentation in the back provides space for cables when the unit's flush against the wall. The base comes with adjustable feet. You can put rubber pads on them for hardwood floors, or spikes for carpets. Either way, the feet ensure isolation from floor vibrations.
